Read 3 IBM White Papers and comment on them.
I admit, that at first receiving this assignment, I thought I would have to spend a lot of time reading, rereading, and trying to understand the documents. I was surprised to see how not complicated these papers were. They explained complex concepts in simple, easy to understand terms, and I learned from them.
I feel like these articles, especially the IBM Information Server v. 8, did a good job of creating the need for the customer to use the product. They explain ideas of integration and federation in terms that are easy to understand.
I found myself trying to explain similar concepts to employees of a company I interned for. I wanted to build the need for change so the employees would understand and be okay with the change. It is a hard thing to do. These papers did it well.

Google Web Toolkit
Research and respond to the Google Web Toolkit.
I had heard a bbout this technology previously. Actually, only that it existed. I really liked reachering it and what I learned. I makes development seem easier to me, and I am easily intimidated by programming technologies.
Basically, it allows AJAX development, in the Java programming languages. I don't know how to program AJAX and obviously never have, but I do know Java. GTW allows me to program and debug AJAX without having to completely learn an whole new language.
Also, I like that the java code can be converted in to Javascript. I know Java better than JS, and prefer Java. Now I can write in Java, and have it output JS and HTML.

Isys 532
What architectures am I familiar with? (platforms, languages, size and scale of systems)?
I don’t have much experience with many different types of architectures, at least compared to many of the students on the class. I have used Java in my Isys classes, mostly the core, and in CS 142. I didn’t really grasp jsp because in my core group, there was a student that could code better and faster in jsp. I know html and javascript, and have a little experience with flash, and have done some scripting in windows. I am interested in learning more and getting better at programming, and am eager to learn more about information architecture in this class.
